A new trail map has been added which maps much of the route of the upcoming Whine Ride next weekend. It has a couple of interesting alternates for those who ride this area often. Check it out - South Langley Regional Trail (Alternate Route)

Hi
to all Happy Trails members and their families!!!!!!!
There
are so many wonderful things happening in the Chapter we want you to be kept
informed, so you have the opportunity to participate.
There
has been a Rider's list started, it has not been posted as yet but we do have 8
names on the list so far. I am sure
there are others out there who would like to be informed about up coming (regular
weekend) rides.
The
Wine/Wyne Ride is scheduled for Feb. 10th, ready to ride at Campbell
Valley 12 noon sharp.
The 150
Ride organized for July, is well underway, a forging clinic was held last
weekend, and by the sounds of it, enjoyed by all.
The organizers for our Rider's
Clinic have been hard at work. There
is now a barn, an instructor with an indoor and outdoor arena. Luce will be our
instructor for four sessions, starting on Sunday March 2nd and each following
Sunday 9, 16, and 23rd @ 1:00 P.M. and 2:30 P.M. First time is set for more experienced riders
and the 2:30 time is set for those who have some experience in arena riding.
Although
all members are welcome, green horse/green rider combinations are not
recommended for this set of group lessons. Pre-registration
is required at our February meeting.
Payment upon registration of $80.00 for the four 1 hour lessons, what
a deal! All
horses will be screened for health and soundness by the owner/instructor of the
facility, on entering her property. To
register, please see Doug Parton. Many
thanks go out to Doug for giving us an opportunity to "Ride, Ride, Ride"! This
is only the first of other "Rider's Clinics" for 2008!
Meeting Reminder:
On
February 6th doors will open at 7 pm and our guest speaker Al
Nuefeld will speak at 7:30 pm, general meeting to follow.
Come with new ideas, a story, poem and
or a helpful hint!!!!!!!!!!

Can I tell you how pleased I was at our last meeting! There were thirty in attendance. We had the entertaining pleasure of listening to Mountain Man Jack spin out his tale of existence. Stories of summer, a recap on the CHA certification clinic, a discussion on a new piece of trail to minimize road risk, a ride organized, that was held last weekend, and the upcoming booth for bchbc at main event. Throwing in the odd comment, side saddled with the odd joke it was a great meeting.
September is usually quite quiet, as the men folk go off to be worriers in the forest, but maybe it will be the up coming meeting that will find us with more going off to find a deer. In any event we are inviting everyone coming to be bitted and ready to engage themselves in bitting. To bit or not to Bit is the question?? May not, it just sounded good!! We encourage you to bring your rare or unusual bits or hackamores to show the group. (stories to accompany the bits won’t be frowned upon). Various bits will be shown and how they work will be explained. Bring your bridle, a model horse head will be available to demonstrate how your bit feels to your horse.
Oct. 3rd doors open at 7:oo p.m.
General at 7:30, bitting to start shortly after.

An 8" section of Hydro pole is being set 4' deep.

Our hitchin' rails project at 8 Avenue & 248 St is now finished!
The trail route joining Campbell Valley Park and Aldergrove Lake Park
is well-used by horsemen. This section of the trail is about 2 hrs from
Campbell Valley Park, just the right distance for a lunch stop, and
this is the reason for hitchrails.

Hi to all Happy Trails Members. It was about time that I brought everyone up to speed. Our meetings have been very successful. It is always a pleasure to have eager people to share with all of us there education, adventures, and funny stories.
On Saturday we had our 3rd annual games, and potluck. Although we only had 4 riders, a mule named Fred, (wearing a blue tarp), and one rider that did the ultimate and rode from home first (for two hours), every horse and even the mule got some education and acceptance of all the obstacles presented. I must say that mule was the bravest when he was wearing the tarp, (including over his head) put a new meaning to what a mule looks like to the rest of the horses!!
Please bring live auction items to be donated for baskets that will be auctioned off at RV 2007. We are doing 3 baskets one on sweets (human and animal), one on what you would bring on a ride ie: high lines etc. and one on first aid.
On our calendar we have the CHA Certification week from April 29th to May 4th.
May 6th OR 12th (weather permitting), photos at Campbell Valley Park, ride and picnic.
MAY 9TH, doors open at 7 pm, presentation by Margaret Evans on Trekking at 7:30, general meeting to follow. Hope you can come!
RV 2007 June 1-3, registration by the end of the month will guarantee a dinner ticket for sat. evening and a better rate.
Take Care, Susan Shumey
