We had a great time - and as you can see by the date on this email we came home early...

reluctantly... the road was flooding and we had to evacuate last night. So, if anyone is planning on joining us today - we're home! Many hands make for light work and allowed us to clear the Centennial Trail from The horse camp to Shuwatum, and the Neopopkum Loop Trail from the horse camp going north for a ways and also the section from the Centennial  Trail to the road.

Left to do is the Centennial Trail from Shuwatum to the Skagit, The Skagit River Trail, the Shuwatum up from the Centennial Trail and.....??? jim

I've made arrangements to meet with BC Parks tonight to fill out the forms and get the key. It would be helpful to know who is coming and who can't make it. Does anyone have a good medium sized chain saw they could bring? Who has the required safety gear? I have two sets and I know Jack has another.

THE Whitworth Horse Camp is located 54 kms south on the Silver-Skagit Road. Take the exit before Hope showing the Silver - Skagit rd., then drive the 54 k's. The gravel road is supposed to be in very good shape.

You may find the gate closed, but it won't be locked except during the night. jim

Hi All, attached is a Google map. The bright red line is the new trail, the darker red dotted line is the Centennial trail. For more info go to aldergrovebchorsemen.org and type "Whitworth" and "Skagit"  into the search box.

Hy'all. The Skagit Trails await. I will -  arrange the paper work (with George's assistance and in the company of others as we all need to learn the ups and downs, ins and outs of the paper work).

We anticipate using the Whitworth Horse Camp and its' facilities. For those of you who have not been there it has pull through camp sites, corrals and highline posts - the best little horse camp you'll find anywhere. Bring some bug repellant for your horses and selves, as it is just the start of the squitter season.

We'll have a map or route description later - Jack? Could we do a google thing?

Jack would like a crew to help him cut out a loop trail.

We can use 4 crews at a minimum to cut out the Centennial Trail. One section would be best done on foot as there are many....many trees down. Two other sections could be done horse assisted, tow crews each section working towards each other. If we have more help then we could also work north up the Skagit River Trail.

So, we have many tasks and many hands would make light work... sort of! I'll contact A fellow in Hope that has expressed an interest in joining us - he and some friends regularly do volunteer trail clearing.

Marilyn and I are going up Thursday noon, probably taking a quad for road transport but not using it on the trails.

For those of you coming to work for a day we will not leave the camp before 8:30 am and Marilyn will be there all day to assist in helping people find a crew to join.

More on chain saws later.

There are 4 people who do not get email so I'll call them. Any questions?  jim
