How to Host & Organize an Aldergrove Chapter Club Ride.
A
simple step-by-step guide
This guide is intended to make it easy for any member who wishes to host a ride to do so safely and easily. For a printable version of these instructions, including the pre-ride checklist and a Canadian Horse Magazine article, download How to host an Aldergrove Chapter ride
- Gather the following information:
- Ride location (include directions if
needed)
- Day and Date
- Ready-to-Ride time
- For everyone's safety, dogs are
welcome in camp, but dogs, loose horses and stallions are not permitted
on rides.
- Short description of footing, etc. (Some riders will have to decide to shoe or bring boots for their horses.) If the trail is difficult, riders should be advised. Elevation gain is useful info, if available.
- Approximate length of ride, whether it
will be overnight, a pack trip, etc.
- Contact phone & email
- What extra things do riders bring with
them? Potluck/meal, chair, lunch, etc.
- Will there be a limit to the number of riders? If so they should RSVP. A deadline for the RSVP is a good idea.
- Contact the Chapter chair (Susan Shumey 604 856-1396 or

) or other exec. to let them know the details so that there are no schedule conflicts.
- If not leading the ride yourself, ask
for someone who will be the Trail Boss. Our chapter has several CHA
certified trail guides available as well as other experienced riders. Some
rides do not need a trail boss, if there are less than 4 riders or so in a
group a trail boss is not needed.
- Arrange for the Trail Boss to have a
first aid kit (the club has one or he may use his own) and a copy of the
pre-ride checklist (Download)
- Add the information to the website
calendar at http://aldergrovebchorsemen.org/ either by:
- That's it! Wasn't that easy?
